FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I volunteer at The UpCounty Hub?

Yes! Volunteers help us serve the community every week by packaging boxes with canned goods, filling bags with fresh produce, helping load the trucks for distributions, and participating in special holiday events. Visit our volunteer page to learn more.

What are the requirements to volunteer?

ALL VOLUNTEERS must: 1) be 18 years or older and able to work independently, 2) show proof that they are fully vaccinated, (including boosters, if eligible); and 3) have the ability to lift 25 lbs.

What items can I donate to the Hub?

We gratefully accept non-expired food, including canned goods, fresh produce, meats, and breads. We also accept diapers, baby formula, shampoo, soap, and other hygiene products. At this time, we are not accepting clothing, books, or furniture (exceptions for holiday events - contact us at info@theupcountyhub.org)

Where can I drop off donations?

Donations can be dropped off at The Upcounty Hub, located on the side of the Upcounty Regional Services Center at 12900 Middlebrook Road in Germantown, Maryland. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Yes! Please fill out our referral form if you or someone you know needs help with SNAP.

Our in-house social worker, Stephanie Rodriguez, will reach out to you directly.

What is the difference between SNAP and Food Stamps?

There is no difference! Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is often referred to as "food stamps", and they are the same program.
